Bright-Loose-Slimline-Floral-Card-Jeni-1

Hi, I am a Winter baby but I am ready for Spring with a brighter sun and slightly warmer days! I use the With Sympathy stamp set by Trinity Stamps for today’s card tutorial with some bright inks by Catherine Pooler Designs. Watch the video tutorial and read on for the written tutorial.

Watercolouring With CP inks

To start, I loosely watercolour the flowers with CP inks. Tiara, Tiki Torch and Tutti Frutti for the flower head and Lime Rickey for the stems. I am using Canson XL Watercolour card for the flowers and background.

Only pops of the background are seen when all the flowers are on the card. I use Suede Shoes and All That Jazz to have a wash off colour that goes from deep blue to a bright sky blue.

Next, I adhere the flowers to cover most of the card. Overlapping some of the flowers for a more natural look. I use the trimmed off flowers to fill in any gaps.

Sentiment and finishing the card

The sentiment is from the same Trinity Stamps stamp set and stamped in Suede Shoes on a Stitched Strip die cut. I will be sending this card to my dad so want a masculine feel. He loves his garden and flowers and prefers bright and happy colours.

Finally, I adhere this to a slimline card base made from Brutus Monroe Not Your Mama’s cardstock. This card is 130lb and will be strong enough to hold the watercolour card.
