Are you in a need of a wedding card? Although wedding’s may not be quite the way they were, it is still a nice occasion to send a card especially if you’re not able to be there on the big day. So why not create a soft wedding card with simple ink blending and emboss resist. The small floral stamps from the ‘This Calls For Cake stamp set from Catherine Pooler Designs is perfect for such an occasion, and pair it with pearl embossing powder and the elegance just steps up a notch!
Creating a heat embossed background
To start off, place the small floral and foliage stamps from the Catherine Pooler Designs This Calls for Cake stamp set onto a selection of acrylic stamping blocks ready to stamp. Trim a piece of Catherine Pooler Premium White cardstock down to 5.2.5″x 4 and prep with an anti-static bag ready for heat embossing.
Stamp a variety of the small stamps onto the card panel in embossing ink. Start off in the middle and work your way outwards. If you find it hard to see where you have stamped, you can cover with embossing powder as you go.
For the background, the stamping was covered with WOW! White Pearl Embossing powder and heat set. This gives a lovely tone on tone background but with the pearl, it gives it an added touch of elegance perfect for a wedding card.
Adding ink blending for a soft wedding card
To add a little interest, Suede Shoes and Juniper Mist Catherine Pooler Inks were blended onto the middle of the card, moving outwards in a circular motion. This will give a soft halo for the focal stamping to sit on and the Ink Blending tool is perfect for this.
The stamps were also heat embossed in WOW! Metallic Gold Rich Pale embossing powder. To add colour, small blending brushes were used to blend on Polished and Sage Catherine Pooler Inks onto the stamp images. Once complete, the coordinating dies were used to die-cut these out.
A sentiment from the ‘This Calls for cake’ was stamped in Twilight Catherine Pooler ink onto a white die-cut circle. This was foam mounted onto the middle of the card, and the heat embossed die-cuts added around the circle. The card was then finished off with a few clear jewels to embellish the card.
