There is always Hope

Intro

I am doing a lot of watercoloring lately and having fun trying out some new paints and pencils. I have a watercoloured card using the Beauty & Song stamp set by Picket Fence Studios. Working on the smooth side of a piece of Canson XL watercolour card, I used my stamping tool to make sure the whole of the image was stamped fully. There is a video tutorial for this card too. The Colouring

Using a new to me set of watercolours pans I started by painting a light wash of Cerulean Blue for the background. The leaves are Sap Green with a small amount of Permanent Lemon Yellow, and I added Viridian for the receptacle. The flowers are a nice bright Azo Yellow Medium.

To colour the bird I used Burnt Sienna for a wash of colour, added some Madder Lake Deep at the neck area and letting the paint dry. I used the same colours but with less water for a stronger colour, and painted over the wash of colour on the bird. Adding a tiny amount of Payne’s grey to add some depth and separate the wings from the body. I coloured the bird’s breast with Yellow Ochre.

While I was waiting for this to dry (before adding more colour to the bird) I stamped a sentiment onto a piece of white card and trimmed this to leave a small border. The sentiment I chose is “Listen for there is always a bird singing of hope”. I made this card to give to my Mum for Mothers Day (22nd March 2020).
