Hi, have you seen the new slimline stencils by Catherine Pooler Designs? There are two slimline stencils – Faceted and Leopard. (There are also three slimline dies – Essentials, Sunray and Rainbow). I use the Faceted slimline stencil with a few different stamp sets by Catherine Pooler Designs to make my card. There is a video tutorial over on YouTube which you can watch here.
Written Tutorial
Slimline Stencilling
First I trim some Bristol smooth card to 8.5 x 3.5” and tape down the Faceted stencil. For the ink blending, I use Melon Ice at the top and Mint To Be at the bottom. Mix the colours in the middle where the colours overlap. I have a separate blending brush for each colour in the rainbow. I think of Melon Ice as a yellow, so I use my blending brush for yellows.
Sentiment Stamping
The sentiment is made from two different stamp sets, Big Thanks and Bushels of Love. I stamp the big “THANK”, then place the “thankful” so the “ful” lines up at the end of the “THANK”. Close the lid of the stamping tool to pick up the stamp, with masking tape to cover the “thank” and ink up the “ful”. TIP: Remove the masking tape before closing the door to stamp! Next, I line up the “for the” sentiment and stamp this to complete the sentiment. The sentiment is stamped with Icing On The Cake ink. And the complete sentiment reads “THANKful for the memories we share”
Making Pumpkins
First, I die cut a bunch of pumpkins with the coordinating dies from the Bushels of Love set from white card. I die cut first as this is a two piece stamp – the body of the pumpkin and the stalk of the pumpkin are separate stamps. By die cutting first, I will be able to stamp the stalk in the right place. The pumpkin is stamped with Orange Peel ink, and the stalk is stamped with Over Coffee ink.
All the pumpkins are arranged along the bottom of the card and snugged up around the sentiment. I want some of the pumpkins to be overlapping and pop up three with dimensional foam squares. The rest are flat to the card.
Slimline Card base
I trim off the edges of the two pumpkins that are overhanging on the card front, and adhere this to a card base. Then I make a card base that measures 8.5 x 7” and score at the 3.5” mark from Catherine’s premium white card. And adhere the stencilled panel to the card base with tape adhesive. Don’t forget to check out the corresponding video, and leave a comment either at YouTube or here on the blog.
