Super Simple Two Minute Tip For Show-Stopping Cards!

Hey crafty people!

I’m back on The Little Paper Tree blog with another dose of inspiration for you! This month I have a super quick & easy tip for using the Trellis Cover Plate Die from Catherine Pooler to get an amazing & seriously impressive clean and simple background in less than two minutes.

I love cover plate dies but they are a real investment, so it’s important that you have an array of ways to use them in order to get the most for your money. I’ve shared a couple of ways previously on my own blog and Instagram, (links below), but this is definitely the easiest and simplest way.

Cutting The Trellis

I die cut the die from some black card stock; I recently purchased a Gemini Jr and that thing is amazing! It cut through the entire way on the first run and all of the pieces came out so easily too. Catherine Pooler’s dies are really good quality which helps massively too.

I used liquid glue to fix the die-cut onto another piece of the same black cardstock, trimming it down to the same size as the Trellis. I absolutely LOVE this tone-on-tone background that has loads of texture and interest thanks to the die-cut piece. But that is also clean & simple enough to not detract from any sentiments or images you have as your focal point.

Finishing Up My Design

I added a large ‘hello’ die cut from silver glitter stock and embossed two sub sentiment pieces onto the same black cardstock, I popped these up on foam squares. This means my full sentiment reads ‘just a little hello from all of us’. I glued the panel onto an A2 white card base made from 110lb Neenah and embellished it really simply with just a few Nuvo Crystal Drops in silver.
