Spring Fling vs Life Of The Party
I have two cards to share using the Flower Burst cover plate die, comparing the colours in Spring Fling and Life of The Party. I chose two pinks and two purples from each collection. It’s A Girl and Pixie Dust from the Spring Fling collection – which are less saturated colours and Party Dress and Flirty Fuschia from the Life Of The Party collection – which are more saturated colours. There is also a video tutorial showing the process for both these cards which you can watch HERE.
Backgrounds
Both of the backgrounds are created the same way. I used watercolour card by Canson because I use the refills and water to move the colour around and needed a strong card that would be able to handle water. Before adding any colour to the watercolour card, I diecut the Flower Burst cover plate die to use as a guide. I want to use a guide to add the colour in the area where the flowers would be – instead of just randomly adding colour. Although I did allow the colours to blend and mix.
Coverplate Diecutting
Before any die-cutting, I covered the back of two pieces of Neenah Solar White card with double-sided adhesive tape. This will add adhesive to the diecut and makes adhering the die to the card super easy. I also added double-sided adhesive tape to the back of black card for the Thanks word die.
Finishing Touches
I want to keep the focus of the card on the background and the Flower Burst die but I think they need something else. I added three sequins around the sentiment. Normally I over-do the sequins, so I’m proud I was able to stop at just three! The sequins for the Spring Fling card are from the Charleston mix, and the Bourbon Street for the Life Of The Party card.
I will adhere these both to A2 sized card bases and add these to my “to be posted” box of finished cards. With what is happening in the world right now, I am sending out more Thank You cards. How would you use this cover plate die? Which one is your favourite? Leave a comment to let me know. And don’t forget to check out the video tutorial over on YouTube too.
