Meet Maria

My name is Maria Grimshaw and I live in Barnsley, South Yorkshire with my husband Ian and my little Jack Russell, Belle, who we adopted from a rescue centre.

I have been crafting, in some form or other, since I was at Junior school when we were taught cross stitch, I loved sewing lessons and continued this through secondary school. My love of papercraft came when I was looking for wedding invitations and couldn’t believe how much they cost.  After a trip to the Hobbycraft exhibition, I learnt how to stamp and emboss and made my own wedding stationery.  That was it then, I was hooked and never looked back since.  In my last job I was an Art and Design Technician in a Senior School so spent a lot of my time doing the things I love.  Unfortunately, I was made redundant last year due to educational cutbacks and the team were gutted to lose me, but these things happen.

Now I spend my days caring for my Father who has Alzheimer’s, looking after Belle and getting my fingers very messy.  I love stamping, stencilling and colouring.  Also, I use a die cutter and love to experiment with colours and I like to dabble into mixed media using MDF and greyboard and making my own backgrounds with texture pastes etc.  I still do a bit of sewing now and again.
